Detention Facility
Our Jailers
The Chowan County Detention Center is a division of the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office. The staff at the Detention Center provide care and security of sentenced and non-sentenced inmates in Chowan County. The facility also houses inmates from other jurisdictions as requested or needed.
The Detention Center organizes a trustee work program to provide an opportunity for inmates to give back to our community while housed in the Jail. This program provides inmates at no charge to other public agencies, civic groups, and those who request those services. Each request will be reviewed by the Sheriff or his designee.
The Detention Center currently has a staff of eight full-time officers, three part-time officers, and one Jail Administrator.
